Upstate Oasis Participates in the 2022 Syracuse Heart Walk

Taking a stand against heart disease

On a beautiful Sunday morning, Upstate Oasis staff and volunteers met at the SRC Arena on the Onondaga Community College campus to participate in the 2022 American Heart Associations’ Heart Walk. Oasis team coach Sandy Roberts along with Oasis Program & Volunteer Coordinator Jennifer Michella and Oasis volunteers Sue Foster, Mary Jernigan and Mary Robinson represented the 9-person Oasis team. Collectively the team raised $581.32, while Upstate Medical University as a whole raised $19,253 of the over $400,000 raised for the Syracuse Heart Walk.

Heart Walk Volunteers

According to the American Heart Association 830,000 people die from heart disease every year. Events like the Heart Walk brings awareness while raising money for research. There’s still time to help the Syracuse Heart Walk reach their goal of $580,000.
