Talking a Stand Against Heart Disease
On a beautiful Sunday morning in April, Upstate Oasis staff and volunteers met at the SRC Arena on the Onondaga Community College campus to participate in the 2023 American Heart Association’s Heart Walk. Oasis team coach Sandy Roberts, Oasis Program & Volunteer Coordinator Jennifer Michella, Oasis volunteers Sue Foster, Mary Jernigan, and Mary Robinson, and team member Amanda Foster represented the 8-person Oasis team. The team raised $795.49, while Upstate Medical University raised $18,952 of the over $387,000 raised for the Syracuse Heart Walk.
According to the American Heart Association, 830,000 people die from heart disease every year. Events like the Heart Walk brings awareness while raising money for research. There’s still time to help the Syracuse Heart Walk reach its goal of $500,000. If you’re interested in donating, click the red button below!
