At Oasis, its our privilege to help people discover ways to better their lives as they age through learning and service.  We’re proud to offer programs in the arts, humanities, wellness, technology and volunteering. And there’s a gold mine of knowledge, talent and passion among our volunteers, instructors, supporters and staff who make these programs happen.

Our blog is a place to share that knowledge with the wider world. Whether you’ve taken classes, taught them or volunteered in your community, we invite you to share your experience. Tell us about what you’ve learned, ideas you want to share, or tips you can offer. By doing so, you can help others build healthy lifestyles and use their talents in productive ways.

Not sure about blogging? You don’t have to be an experienced writer. Blogs are conversational and informal articles. Imagine sitting at your kitchen table with a friend, discussing things you’ve learned while volunteering, or writing an email to your son or daughter about the tips you gained from a health class. Simply put, it’s about passing on your experiences, your insights and your voice.

We already have some great guest bloggers!

With her distinct writing style, Julie Blow has shared insights on learning, technology, preparing for class reunions and grandparenting. Her latest blog offers readers  who might be facing their first holiday alone some tips on how to redefine the season for themselves.

A walk is more than a walk for guest blogger Betty Higbie, who shares her adventures (and great photos) as she and others in her walking group explore and learn more about local history and the natural landscapes around Albuquerque, NM. Her latest blog offered great tips on how to prevent falling when you go on walking adventures.

Longtime blogger Cindy Sue Blair offers helpful health information in a “news you can use” format with her Wellness with Cindy blog posts. She’s covered the basics on breast cancer awareness, how to find a personal trainer and recently offered up a new way to think about healthy holiday feasting.

Oasis tutor Bill Kasalko was excited to share how his first year working with a third grader impacted his own life. Like many of tutors in the program, Bill says he learned as much as the child he was helping!

Get the idea? If you think you’d like to give blogging a try, please contact Janice Branham. We’re looking forward to sharing what you have to offer!
